# Lua Mode - icom OS Routers

Lua is a script language that allows to include scripts in [ASCII configuration files](/kb/docs/en/ascii-configuration-files-en) for the router. Command scope, limitations and syntax are described on the [CLI](/kb/docs/en/command-line-interface-cli-en) page under [Lua mode](/kb/docs/en/command-line-interface-cli-en#lua). ASCII configuration files are uploaded to the router in the *Administration* → *Profiles* menu. ASCII configuration files that contain a Lua script, can be applied to the [profile](/kb/docs/en/profiles-and-profile-handling-en) by an [action](/kb/docs/en/events-actions-and-timers-en#actions) that is triggered by an [event](/kb/docs/en/events-actions-and-timers-en#events).
