The launch of the new MOROS.neo router generation is a great opportunity to replace your long-serving MoRoS routers (or other INSYS routers running INSYS OS) with modern routers, ensuring your application is future-proof. As part of this upgrade, the routers must not only be physically replaced but also updated in the icom Connectivity Suite - VPN.
Situation
You have an INSYS router running the INSYS OS operating system in the field and are accessing this router via the icom Connectivity Suite - VPN. This router is now to be replaced with a modern router from the MOROS.neo or MRX.neo series running the icom OS operating system.
Solution
Depending on operational requirements, the replacement can be carried out in two different ways:
On-site router replacement and configuration
Setting up the router in-house and subsequent on-site replacement
Both methods are described below. Use the one that best suits your needs as a guide.
On-site router replacement and configuration
Here's how to replace the router on-site and register the new router in the icom Connectivity Suite - VPN.
Open the portal of the icom Connectivity Suite:
Select your preferred language under Sprache or Language and click on Log in.
Select on the Devices page in the device list the device to be replaced, by selecting it from the dropdown-list Devices or clicking in the ID column on it.
Note Device name, group and IP addresses of the router (Copy & Paste or screenshot) and delete the router with a click on .

Add the new router in the icom Connectivity Suite - VPN as described in this Configuration Guide. To do this, use the Device name, Group, and IP addresses of the router being replaced (the serial number must be the one of the new router).
Click on the page of the new router in the icom Connectivity Suite - VPN on Download Configuration.
Commission the router as described in the Quick Installation Guide.
Start the Startup wizard in the Wizards menu and configure System time, Authentication and Internet connection accordingly.
Enable in step 4 the Configure VPN toggle, select icom Connectivity Suite as Type of VPN connection with the option Upload icom router configuration and upload the previously downloaded configuration file.

Configure the further options of the wizard accordingly and complete it with Run wizard.
Once the Startup wizard is complete, the new router should connect to the internet and appear as online in the icom Connectivity Suite - VPN.
You can now replace the old router with the new one.
Setting up the router in-house and subsequent on-site replacement
Here’s how to set up the new router in-house while the current router is still in use. The new router will be installed on-site at a later time. This requires coordination between the on-site technician and the person responsible for administering the icom Connectivity Suite - VPN.
Setting up the router in-house
Open the portal of the icom Connectivity Suite:
Select your preferred language under Sprache or Language and click on Log in.
Set up the new router in the icom Connectivity Suite - VPN as described in this Configuration Guide. Assign a similar device name and do not assign an IP range.
Commission the router as described in this Configuration Guide.
Once the Startup wizard is complete, the new router should connect to the internet and appear as online in the icom Connectivity Suite - VPN.
On-site replacement
Before proceeding with further steps in the icom Connectivity Suite - VPN, the old router must first be replaced with the new router and put into operation, and the VPN connection to the icom Connectivity Suite - VPN must be established (indicated by the WAN LED remaining lit).
Open the portal of the icom Connectivity Suite:
Select your preferred language under Sprache or Language and click on Log in.
Select on the Devices page in the device list the device to be replaced, by selecting it from the dropdown-list Devices or clicking in the ID column on it.
Note Group and IP addresses of the router (Copy & Paste or screenshot) and delete the router with a click on .

Now change to the new router and configure it using the licence that has become available, as well as the Group and IP addresses of the replaced router. If necessary, adjust the Device name again.
Once the configuration is complete, the new router will sync and reappear in the icom Connectivity Suite - VPN after 1–2 minutes.
Please note the following regarding licenses!
To test the OpenVPN connection to the icom Connectivity Suite - VPN within your organization, you can request an additional license (free of charge until June 30, 2027) and temporarily assign it to the device you wish to test.
If you wish to prepare more than ten devices in-house, the number of devices without a license can be increased until June 30, 2027. Please contact your sales partner regarding both of these matters.
