Yes. The shutdown of 2G does not spell the end of SMS. SMS messages can also be transmitted via modern 4G (LTE)/5G mobile networks. Many existing applications – such as fault reports from sewage treatment plants, waterworks, pumping stations or other technical facilities – can therefore still be sent via SMS to an on-call mobile phone. Our mobile routers also support SMS transmission on 4G/5G networks, meaning that tried-and-tested alerting systems can continue to be used without the need to switch to more complex communication solutions.
