icom OS Routers - Situation
The router shall establish its WAN connection only if this is released using a key switch.
Solution
Another WAN chain will be added that is empty, i. e. that cannot establish a WAN connection. An event will be added that starts the functional WAN chain in case the input signals that the key switch is set to ON. Another event will be added that starts the empty WAN chain in case the input signals that the key switch is set to OFF. Both events are configured so that the status of the input is checked when the router is started.
It is prerequisite that you have access to the web interface of the router and the router has Internet access. It is recommended to commission the router as suggested in the Quick Installation Guide for this. It is also prerequisite that a key switch is connected to an input of the router that connects input IN1 to GND if switched to position ON.
Please pay attention to the logic of the input used!
With an INSYS MIRO router, the input is low-active, i.e. it changes to LOW when it is connected to GND. With an INSYS SCR or ECR router, the input is high-active, i.e. it changes to HIGH when it is connected to GND. INSYS MRX routers have inputs of both types depending on the MRcard installed. The logic of the input used is described in the Installation and user manual.
The following description applies to an INSYS MIRO router and must be adapted accordingly for a high-active input. To do this, the events below must be configured in the reverse manner.
Open the user interface of the router: https://insys.icom
[Only for MIRO and MRcard with configurable I/O] Click on the Ports → I/O page on and set the I/O used to Input.
Click on SUBMIT.
Click on the Network → WAN / Internet page on to add another WAN chain.
Enter a Description, add no interfaces and click on SUBMIT.
Click on the Events → Events page on to add an event that starts WAN chain wan1, if the input changes to LOW or has the status LOW when starting up:
Description: IN1 LOW starts wan1
Event: Digital input has changed
Digital input: 2.1
Changed to LOW
Check for event upon start-upAction: Start WAN chain
WAN chain: wan1
Click on SUBMIT.
Click on the Events → Events page on to add an event that starts the empty WAN chain wan2, if the input changes to HIGH or has the status HIGH when starting up:
Description: IN1 HIGH starts wan2
Event: Digital input has changed
Digital input: 2.1
Changed to HIGH
Check for event upon start-upAction: Start WAN chain
WAN chain: wan2
Click on SUBMIT
Activate the profile with a click on ACTIVATE PROFILE .
The settings become effective immediately. A connection is established when the key switch is switched on and established when the key switch is switched off.
Result testing
Open the Status → Dashboard page and observe the establishment or termination of the WAN chain in the Network configuration section when toggling the key switch..
Troubleshooting
Check whether the logic of the events corresponds to the switching logic of the input used (see note above).
